Exclusive | Big Sant Explains ‘SleEP’

You really ought to have given Big Sant‘s most recent project, SleEP, a listen by now. The Mississippi native is a star (outside of frequently collaborating with longtime friend Big KRIT).

Despite having had a rough personal year in 2015, the bug returned last spring and Sant is back in effect, ready to touch mics, spit something clever and leave fans in amazement. Same as always.

Three songs deep, SleEP is just enough to whet the palate.

Catch the exclusive breakdown of Sant’s latest above. And listen to the project below.

A3C Hip Hop Festival 2016 | From The Eyes of MFD Intern Keandra Scott [Pics]

rick-ross-2

Last year, we had the opportunity to cover the A3C Hip-Hop 2015 Festival and Conference which took place during the BET Hip-Hop Award Weekend.

The most recent A3C was nothing short of phenomenal. It seems as if each year the festival continues to surpass the expectation of one’s experience to an unfathomable altitude. Continue reading

Use Your Eyes | Sy Ari Da Kid ‘Q&A’

“Bae you need to get some act right /  And I don’t wanna talk about last night…”

We’ve been waiting, Sy! The singer/rapper’s highly anticipated studio album just dropped on iTunes last month.

Sy Ari Da Kid’s B4 The Heartbreak gives fans and those who are just tuning in to his music, a more modern sound over some heat. The Bronx-born, ATL-bred is right on time with his visual for “Q&A,” the third release from B4, subsequent to “Road to Heartbreak” and “5 Minutes Ago.” Continue reading

Fresh Music | Art Morera ‘Covert Loop$’

Haven’t hit y’all with some new since 2015, my fault. Appreciate this one though. Miami native Art Morera is back again, offering his personal narrative over three different tracks from the Curren$y/Alchemist collaborative effort ‘Covert Coup.’ On ‘Loop$,’ Morera fills close to six minutes, speaking on everything from fan loyalty to self-motivation. The song appears in the midst of his most recent campaign for his EP, Afterglow. Press ‘play.’

Fresh Music | Translee ‘Lost in the Sauce’

A few weeks ago, MFD fave Translee dropped this ‘Lost in the Sauce’ track produced by Tha Officialz and it’s fitting that we’re running it over here on a Sunday. The song just feels like church and Translee is preaching for close to 3:30 minutes. Not your AME pulpit type of preaching either. Think 125th and Lenox street corner call to worship. He touches on his feelings about the Confederate flag amongst other things. Continue reading

Use Your Eyes | Chase Compton ‘GHO$TBOYZ’

When it comes to telling your story, no one can do it better than you. Kansas MC Chase Compton is back on the MFD radar with his newest visual for the track, ‘GHO$TBOYZ’ and it’s extra wavy.

From pricey pads to white sand beaches and private plane runways, Chase is livin’ it up. Talk about summertime motivation…

The track itself is psychedelic with a dark element and it’s a beast on some decent speakers. Run through the video real quick and tell us what you think.

Fresh Music | Ron Rico feat. Greenspan ‘I’mma Get Mines’

You know how some mornings you wake up feeling like the day belongs to you? Best thing in the world. Baltimore’s Ron Rico knows what I’m talking about. His latest single ‘I’mma Get Mines’ is that feeling, sonically. The track features fellow B-More native Greenspan and the two talk ambition all over this feel-good production. Get some business ’bout yaself…

New Music | Curren$y ‘Pilot Talk III’ [Album Stream]

Spitta

Curren$y is that guy. Even you don’t get as high as he does on a daily, you get it. Something about that stream-of-consciousness flow coupled with the N.O. lilt and his chemistry with producers like Ski Beatz and the like — but mainly, Ski Beatz, Spitta is a gem out here. And now, with the release of Pilot Talk III, we can indulge in the fly talk he loves to run off.

For $100 (-plus) you can cop the pack though. The MC announced via Twitter on Monday (April 6):

is a free album…. The shirt, book, and drive loaded with unseen vids and such is what ur buying when u cop the pack from us.”
