Fresh Music | Ellis ‘Smooth Criminal’

Enlightening and progressive, B-More artist, Elli$, is back on the MFD radar with some new conscious freshness called ‘Smooth Criminal’.

The track is produced by his longtime beat-making compadre, Legin, and mixed by Statik Selektah — it can be found on his recently released LP Ocean Grown.

There’s no holding back either as El raps, “No filter over here making white liquor clear.”

‘Smooth Criminal’ is 3:01 minutes full of straight heat — goodness, Elli$ got bars. His futuristic flows, spitting much light and relevancy to the on-going plague of today’s society.

As he drops gems, prepare to be educated. Ellis goes in saying, “We know more corny emcees than we know authors.” This track will make you step back a bit to re-evaluate your priorities.

He isn’t afraid to go there. This track reminds me of when Nas dropped Hip Hop Is Dead — controversial, encouraging evolution and featuring some artistic foreshadowing. This song is hip-hop — it’s momentous. Check this track out and put it in your rotation when you get a chance.
