Friend of the site, Tamiko Hope is readying to debut her short film Score for the masses. Hope is a mega-talent in Atlanta and beyond, having been on the grind since the days of Arista, now she’s kicking things up a notch, diversifying, dipping her toe into the film making pool. This film should be dope though.
First off, Sonny Digital is super intriguing. Really talented but still very grounded. Smart and funny. And Score is loosely based on his life. And. And. The soundtrack is sure to be ill, because it’s all Sonny’s. Peep the details below and donate to the film’s Kickstarter here. Filming begins next month so get on it if you have a few dollars to spare. Continue reading
Damn. Mad I missed this… Next time.
Last month, Rod McCoy introduced Atlanta officially to the Audible Hustle imprint. A home for some of the most diverse emcees, McCoy and others hit the stage at The Music Room in Atlanta to give old and new fans a glimpse at what the future has to offer from the Audible Hustle family. Continue reading
A couple months ago, I made my way to The Bar Exam here in Atlanta and, as always, I peeped a couple cats with undeniable skills.
This kid, Div, was at the top of my list. He’s got to be in his second rap life — Div’s cadence, his form — just everything was on point. Continue reading
Straight out of the streets of New Orleans, Young Greatness has emerged and he’s hitting the ground running with his newest drop, ‘Woe.’
Producer Cheeze Beatz, who has previously worked with Migos and Wale, put an authentic hot boy sound on the beat and Greatness picks it up right where one would expect of a NOLA native. Continue reading
DJ Burn One + The Five Points Bakery are back again with their newest joint ‘Pérdida.’ The track comes off their recently released album Tapas and October’s Very Own producer Eric Dingus lends some of his magic to the song behind the boards.
‘Pérdida’ en inglés means ‘loss’ — which sort of explains the song’s eerie inflection. It almost gives off a lonely feeling. Continue reading
When it comes to telling your story, no one can do it better than you. Kansas MC Chase Compton is back on the MFD radar with his newest visual for the track, ‘GHO$TBOYZ’ and it’s extra wavy.
From pricey pads to white sand beaches and private plane runways, Chase is livin’ it up. Talk about summertime motivation…
The track itself is psychedelic with a dark element and it’s a beast on some decent speakers. Run through the video real quick and tell us what you think.
If we’re talking about hit-making, the art of the perfect trap beat and studio chemistry, Zaytoven has been the one to go to and his protege Cassius J has been working hard to get his weight up.
In an exclusive interview released a few weeks back with artist branding mogul, Lalaa Shep, the beat god Zaytoven gave the real on music and culture. Continue reading
Soul-refreshing vibes spews from the eclectic — oh yeah, it’s a party!
Soul music enthusiast DJ Aisha Karimah (Swahili for ‘generous life’) and DJ Dr. Unos and Dubs recently released a conglomerate of timeless dopeness titled Soul Funk ‘N Dope: The Brown – Mayfield Experience.
Both DJs are music pioneers of modern times and potential mentors to the next generation. I can definitely imagine this retro-modern mix will take over all ‘grown & sexy’ spots globally.
Nastie Ed, British DJ Ashley Beedle, and many other various producers hopped on for the experience. From James Brown’s ‘Get Up Offa That Thing’ to ‘Love Me, Love Me Now’ by Curtis Mayfield and a few elements of George Duke, this mix is a funky good time.
Charleston-SC native Triga Montana recently dropped his single titled ‘Amazing,’ which features Royce Rizzy. The song is a club banger with some modern-day trap-tunin’ — I can dig it.
While growing up in the downtown streets of Charleston, Triga would listen to 2Pac and Scarface for inspiration. After being called to the game at the age of 12, he was able to drop his first CD, The Fresh Prince of ChuckTown: From Rags 2 Riches, under his record label SLFMade843 Entertainment. They don’t call him Triga for nothing, he is here to tell you he isn’t stopping until he gets to the top! Give it a spin and cop it here if you’re loving it…
Rapper TwonDon is back on the MFD radar with some new heat. In collaborating with Good Luck artist Bizzy Crook, the two MCs were able to knock out ‘Run It’ — clearly an anthem for the summer. Continue reading
