Day 1 Radio | Tamiko Hope [7/24]

Miko

About a month ago, the guys had the homie Tamiko Hope up at Day 1 Radio. The  Atlanta-based manager/publicist  actually dropped her first book recently, ’10 Key Facts From Industry Insiders ,’ for those of you artists and behind-the-scene folks who need a little help. Continue reading

Fresh Music | Lance Stephenson | ‘Hot N—-‘ Freestyle

20140828_082521

There will always be a special place in my heart for folks from Coney Island and anyone who’s ever gone to Lincoln. We can talk about the second floor hot pretzels and baked cookies at lunch another time but even more intriguing is the fact that I don’t believe there’s anywhere else in Brooklyn where they breed basketball players. I swear all they do in CI is play ball and rap. Continue reading

Here’s a new one from R&B newcomer Karmella Daniel titled ‘Water N Liqour.’ The track is an ode to getting lit on any particular evening out. Continue reading

Use Your Eyes | Ra Ra feat. Killer Mike ‘Frustrated Young Man’

Last winter when Ra Ra sat me down at Crossfade Studios to go over what he had completed on his ‘High End Low Life’ project, he told me that if he could’ve sampled Cody Chestnutt‘s entire angst-filled catalogue, he would. Continue reading

So the other day, DJ Holiday threw his first major concert here in the Atlanta metro area.  There’s a spot on the northside in Gwinnett County called Wild Bill’s — which, as the name reflects, was initially marketed to a whole different demographic than who patronized on last Friday night. The country western appeal of the venue went unnoticed as twenty-something rap fans flocked to the outskirts of Atlanta to catch the Migos perform in their hometown. Continue reading

Use Your Eyes | Elli$ ‘Original Manz’

ELLIS-The-Baltimore-City-Paper

In the wake of Mike Brown’s death by the hand of a Ferguson police officer, Baltimore rapper Elli$ has released the visual for his track ‘Original Manz’ just a bit earlier than planned– but still, right on time. Continue reading

Fresh Music | Bettie Grind feat. Sequence Clark ‘Groove’

'Bettie' or 'Bet He' Grind... Get It?

‘Bettie’ or ‘Bet He’ Grind… Get It?

Usually, I’m not at all with the altering of classic favorites, but this new joint from Bettie Grind might be my newest exception. ‘Groove’ samples The System’s 1987 hit ‘Don’t Disturb This Groove’ and though it may be just a little raunchy, essentially it’s the same thing the pop group was alluding to, right? Fresh Music [Premiere] | Berkeley Park ‘God Forgives’

God Forgives official

Those crazy Berkeley Park kids are back with another one. This time they enlist producer Myles Davis to assist behind the boards — creating a sort of otherworldly tone. But yeah, Jack Papers and DJ Domo are aggy on this one, most definitely. Continue reading
